Efforts are being made all around the world to move towards cleaner forms of energy. Cars are now being manufactured to receive better fuel economy by getting more MPG's and releasing less CO2 emissions. Ethanol, Nuclear, and "Cleaner" Cole are being implemented to power our planet instead of oil. This is all very good, but reducing the problem does not eliminate it. A person cutting down from smoking three times a day to one does not help in curing the lungs. They have to completely stop. The United States is falling behind on the efforts toward a clean and efficient planet. Heads of State, and the Federal Government must push towards logical and efficient changes, not just those changes that appear to be efforts (better MPG cars, Turn off your lights, etc..). These authorities must regulate the major corporation to produce, and research clean and efficient energy. Solar, Wind, Tidal, and Geothermal alone have the potential to forever run our planet. Yet the efforts continue to go towards things such as Hydrogen and Ethanol which is a far from efficient form of energy. The major corporations which produce the machines to harness Wind,Solar,Tidal and Geothermal must move forward and take part in projects on a national scale. Throughout history, we have seen what can be accomplished when true efforts are put in place, and what is even more astonishing is how quick the accomplishments come about. It is difficult for these corporations to want to invest in these major projects when they're profiting so much from our current system. So much of the the problem producing things are huge contributions to the luxury of our lives. Within that design, everyone is happy here in the present. We have transportation, and lights and demand for them. Which means profit for large companies which means an unwillingness to change.  But what good are those things if it continues to lead to Global conflict, and the probability of this planet being inhabitable. The government must establish proper regulations on these corporations to shift and change their method of production, and that which they produce. Funding should be provided to our universities as well so that our nations great minds can help in this change. Nothing great has ever been accomplished without sacrifice, so its time to sacrifice. The government, The Corporations, and The public must sacrifice to move humanity forward. We ask that you please step back from these false efforts and please take action along the more proper and efficient lines. For they are the smart and right thing to for our country and for our civilization.
