Health Care is a necessary part of living. The extraordinary load that is currently placed on our health care system could be dramatically reduced if we, as a population, were offered clean -- chemical free, hormone free, antibiotic free mold free -- foods as the rule, not the exception. Food is like air and water to our species. We can not survive without it. Currently, every bite we take of main stream food sources provides us with chemical, mold and undisclosed non nutrient components. This is equivalent to slow poisoning. It can only lead to chronic health and well-being troubles that then become Health Care Issues. Our Health Care does not begin in the Drs. office. It begins in the fields, barns, silos and factories. This petition seeks to bring attention to the importance of creating healthier humans through cleaner foods for all levels of income people.
Clean Food and Health Care Crisis
Dear Representative
We the undersigned are interested in "Clean Food" becoming the rule, not the exception offered to us as consumers at pricing that is affordable to all. The longer we use chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, non-nutrient food additives to "protect" and "enhance" our foods, the greater the impact of the explosion of "chronic illnesses" becomes on our Health Care System.
Short Range: Take the necessary steps to stimulate and encourage Organic as well as Pesticide/Herbicide Free plant growing practices nationwide. Stop genetic engineering of food source plants. Begin the practice of local supply on every possible front; cutting down on mold growth in huge grain and seed storage systems and disease propagation in giant animal prep and processing areas. Stimulate and encourage the gradual reduction of processed sugar, processed sodium and chemical based artificial sweeteners in all foods. Educate, Educate, Educate, Educate the public regarding the short and long term benefits of eating clean and lower glycemic index foods.
While these steps alone are only a beginning, and the effects in the Health Care System will not show up immediately... they will begin stemming the tide of the escalating chronic health issues, which are spiraling out of control and sorely over burdening our current Health Care System.
I am purposefully avoiding sighting research and studies; because the sheer numbers of such materials is overwhelming and not really the point here. The point here is, what can we do to slow, if not stop, the escalation of dis-eases that can be attributed to long term (multi-generational) chemical poisoning of food?
Medium Range: While continuing to expand and solidify the above steps, it will become necessary to integrate more and more natural remedies and to rely less and less on chemical based interventions into symptoms. This leads to more and more holistic mind set to medicine and medical practices. To have access to and use as many forms of health supporting practices combined with clean food sources and constant education can, at this point, begin to really relieve the burden on the chronic disease load on the Health Care System.
Long Range: The "Mainstream" grocery store, even the corner market, has reversed the quality of offerings on its shelves of present day. By this we mean, only foods that are grown or processed with chemicals will require overt labeling to bring to the attention of the consumer the fact that a food offering is not "clean". All other selections on the shelves of our grocery stores will be "Clean Food", and everyone can afford to feed their families with "Clean Foods" as well as they can right now.
It is with sincere intent that we offer these thoughts to you. We understand this is a big request and a huge undertaking that will be resisted by many "conventional" giants in the food production industryand in the chemical drug production arena. We still want you to understand just how many of us there are that support and desire movement in this direction.
