My name is Claudine Stines, a resident of the City of Walnut since 1973.  Many changes have occurred since I became a resident, but one thing that has not changed is the lack of a community swimming pool for our residents.  The purpose of this petition is to inform our City Council that you agree that there is a need for a community pool that would benefit our children, our adults and our senior citizens.

      Walnut’s Aquatic Program, established in 2003, presently utilizes the Walnut High School pool.  Currently, the city uses the High School pool 10 weeks each summer and offers over 5,000 courses.  However,the pool does not belong to the City of Walnut.   The pool belongs to the Walnut Unified School District which has the authority to override swim schedules when it conflicts with the high school aquatic program schedule. This is something that happens frequently and disrupts the city’s water activities.   

核桃社區游泳池計劃成立於2003年，目前利用核桃高中游泳池供全市使用的高中池10週每年夏天和提供超過5000個課程。但是游泳池不屬於核桃市它屬於核桃聯合學區有權，社區游泳時間表常常與高中活動時間相衝突是經常發生的事情以致於社區活動取消。

     The pool was built in the mid 70’s when our population was approximately eight thousand. Today we have a diverse population of approximately thirty thousand residents. As you can imagine, the pool reached its maximum usage more than five years ago placing limitations on swim lessons and additional classes the city would like to offer.

社區游泳池始建於70年代中期，當我們的人口約8千。今天，我們有不同的人口約3萬居民。正如你能想像游泳池達到其最大使用量超過五年前將限制上游泳課和其他活動。

     A community pool would enable the city to offer year-round swimming, expand swim lessons, schedule a variety of classes and programs to include water polo, competitive swimming and water safety,  meet the needs of our senior population, and offer adaptive swim instruction, to name a few.

一個社區池將使城市提供常年游泳環境，擴大游泳的經驗教訓，安排各種類和程序，包括水球，有競爭力的游泳和水上安全，滿足我們的老年人口的需求。
