Make Tucson a plastic bag-free city

The Issue

Plastic bags are terrible for the environment.  They don't biodegrade, but end up in lakes, streams, and eventually the ocean. These bags pose hazards to all kinds of wildlife, especially marine life. Using plastic bags makes no sense when reusable and paper bags are available.  Please ask the Mayor of Tucson and City Council to support the most effective strategy for plastic bag use reduction: ban the distribution of plastic bags by retailers, encourage use of reusable shopping bags, and offer paper bags for a small fee.
