Stop the Addition of Breed Specific Legislation to the City's Dog Bylaw

Stop the Addition of Breed Specific Legislation to the City's Dog Bylaw
The Issue
Under this legislation, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Pit Bulls and their mixes would be deemed "dangerous." Punishing entire breeds based on the actions of a few dogs is not a proactive solution. Good dog owners are punished because of the irresponsibility of those owners who do not properly socialize, train, vaccinate and spay/neuter their dogs. Responsibility should be placed on owners and dogs should be deemed “dangerous” on a case by case basis only if they have exhibited dangerous and aggressive behavior, rather than singling out entire breeds. PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!
