Our rescued, special needs dog has spent two weeks living on a concrete floor in a cell by herself because a judge with no heart has mandated she not come home. We rescued her from being euthanized when she was 10 weeks old. My children have grown up with her for the past seven years.  She has arthritus in her hip, and most likely will not be adopted. Why is the city forcing an already impaired dog to lay on a cement floor, in a small cell, getting no exercise?

We used to have two labs, but one destroyed any barrier we built, and was an escape artist.  We were mandated,  by Judge McInnis, to give up our dogs last summer, after the fourth time in two years they had been picked up.  We found a great home for our yellow lab, who was the runner, and Maya has been home for more than a year, with no desire to run ever since.  Two weeks ago, we left town, and our dog sitter left the gate open.  Maya went searching for us, and was picked up.  I appeared before Judge McInnis again, who said she told me to "get rid of my dogs" last summer.  I explained that we placed the high anxiety dog and Maya has been great since. She refused to listen, and said Maya is now a "ward" of Animal Services, and they can "decide her fate".  We are powerless to get our dog back.  She is hurting, and so are we.  We want her home. Its where she belongs. Please help us bring our dog home.
