Safety of our children should be in the forefront of everyone's mind.Two weeks ago, 6 yr old Akamie was going to recess and marching to the "ants go marching one by one" when she accidentally hit a classmate. Her punishment from her trusted homeroom teacher was to punch a mat repeatedly during recess. Since Ms. Thomassen had to go watch the other children, she asked Mr. Brownlee to oversee it. Akamie started crying because it hurt her hand and was told that she had to continue punching it or Ms. Thomassen would find out. Other children at recess witnessed this. Some are afraid the same thing will happen to them. 

We trust our children to the school system and to the hardworking teachers. It's our children's right to be in a safe place provided by the school
