We have witnessed an act of heinous crime committed by a group of people on 9 July, 2012 at the heart of Guwahati. A girl's, a citizen's fundamental right has been taken away by fellow citizens. If this incident continues to be unattended by administration, it will not only deny justice to the girl, but boost the offenders to do similar acts in future. Denying justice will also send a negative message to citizens that violating fundamental rights are legitimized.

It is time to awake the administration and take serious and honest steps to halt such acts. If the administration does not show maturity and integrity, we, as sincere citizens have no hope for a better society.

By signing this petition, addressing the Chief Minister of Assam, we need to convey to the state government that we want a secure society where every individual's dignity is preserved and respected. We feel ashamed of such acts in our society. And we believe the government has a role to take positive action. Further we believe that government has that courage and potential to bring positive changes in the society.

We urge the government to take strict and honest action to identify the culprits in connection with this incident, the molesters, the inactive police persons and all those who encouraged such an act, and direct them to the court of law.
