Research studies continue to show that an active school library program run by a certified and trained school librarian makes a significant difference to student learning outcomes. While having "space" for additional classes is important, the media center is a valid learning tool for every student in the school. We are at this school because of academic excellence. Parents understand that sports may not be comparable to districted schools, but not having a school library is something that our students should not have to encounter. Finally this year, despite the extra small space, our children look forward to going to the media center and look forward to reading because we finally had a true media specialist. We have a foundation from AHS that we could build upon that could one day be great. Let's use that space and our resources to build upon instead of taking yet another thing away from these students. Our only difference from local schools cannot just be the uniforms!
