Charge Previous Administration for War Crimes

The Issue

We have all see the horrible pictures from Guantanamo Bay and the detainees (they're prisoners, not detainees), being tortured and the people there seeming amused by it and nothing coming of it but a few convictions of some of the military personell that performed these acts. However, We haven't seen the more recently announced photos, even though they can be leaked out at any time and the horrid crimes they show. Many INNOCENT people were held prisoner for years and tortured, mutilated, and humiliated. Not to mention the prisoners that died. If we KNEW all these people were guilty, then there would be no real cause of action, except for the manner in which they were killed... during torture.

Hasn't that concept gotten pretty old in this country? Since when do we not express our outrage at police brutality or military brutality? Remember Kent State? Was that not over the lines? They weren't tortured, but innocent people were killed. They stood no more chance than the prisoners at our military prisons that keep "terrorists". Women are being raped, tortured, humiliated - men are being forced to masturbate in front of soldiers who are standing there watching... There have been stories of men being raped and not just a normal rape... raped with other objects, like broomstick handles or plunger handles, etc. Since when does this country allow OUR MILITARY to do this to ANY other human being? Well, apparently since GW Bush was in office. It went from his office down the chain, these memos, ordering military personell to use tactics that were dangerous, ruthless, and out of the norm for military behavior.

I can't count how many veterans i know out there who are ashamed at what the military has come to represent since we first responded to 9/11. These are our people, these are sons and daughters and fathers and mothers, husbands and wifes, sisters, brothers, cousins, and friends... who are torturing other human beings, not to get information out of them, but because that's what their orders are, and guess what? You don't follow orders, you get reprimanded. I know some of the people were obviously enjoying what was going on, i saw the initial pictures and those girls and a couple of those guys seemed to find the whole thing amusing, but this is NOT what America stands for.

If you get outraged at police brutality, then there is NO reason for you not to be as equally outraged at the brutality against the prisoners in the military camps we've all been hearing about on the news and talking about. Bush, Cheney, and the other 3 main people involved in the Bush administration involved in these policies need to pay for their war crimes against human beings from a number of countries.

Julie RodgersPetition StarterI am very vocal when it comes to some subjects in our government's policies. I am very devoted to helping make this country a better place, and praying that the world will become a better place because some of the actions i take. I would like to see our political leaders actually speak to each other, instead of sending soldiers to areas to be killed, maimed, and psychologically devastated. I don't like the way things are now, and i'm old enough to remember simpler times. I just hope that we get enough people involved to make a big difference in not only ourselves, but to others as well.
