The world now has a vision of the United States as a country that is continually at war. Gone are the visions of the United States as a country that spreads peace and democracy around the world.
It is important that we head in a direction of once again inspiring the peoples of the world as well as our own citizens. Starting with a change in our national anthem to an anthem that emphasizes the beauty and promise of America is vitally important at this time.
"America the Beautiful" is a song that is easy to sing with lofty and inspiring words. How proud I would be to hear that song sung in place of "The Stars Spangled Banner" which is a song that was actually composed during a period of war - the War of 1812 and reflects the consciousness of war rather than peace.
