Cancel the development of the Northern Gateway Pipeline

The Issue

The Northern Gateway Pipeline threatens a part of B.C. known as the Great Bear Rainforest, home to the rare Kermode, or spirit bears. This place is the only known home of these white bears.

These bears inherit a recessive gene, which causes their fur to be a different color. You cannot relocate these bears or breed them in captivity.

In and around this unique area of land, there is also a diverse ecosystem full of birds, wolves, bears, fish, and even whales.

There are also First Nations peoples living in the area who are opposed to the pipeline, which will go through our 'Canadian Rainforest'.

In the event of an oil spill, things could be catastrophic.

August 30th - Update

As of August 30th, the petition has been updated.

"Cancel Enbridge's Northern Gateway pipeline, and make sure it is gone for good.

If the pipeline is ever approved, then things could be terrible. BC is home to a diverse ecosystem, and it will be put in danger by oil tankers pulled by tugboats through islands full of animals and plants.

Please make sure that the pipeline is never approved."
