This is an issue of racial slurs that do not have any place in American society today, especially amongst high ranking officials of top US universities. In a recent article on ESPN, Gee compared the job of coordinating several university divisions to "the Polish army." The exact quote, and full article can be found at the link below:

This is a huge issue. As a native Pole, these jokes are not only not funny, they are painful, and show immense ignorance, a complete lack of respect for the history of the Polish nation, and are simply wrong. They have no place in American society. What is most appalling is that Gee apparently sees nothing wrong in his remarks, saying ""Oh, never mind, who did I embarrass now?" A moment later he said: "I'll have to raise money for Poland now.""

What makes this more shocking is that this is not the first time Gee has made comments like this before. While his comments over the years do not show this type of racism, or ignorance, they cannot go unnoticed. Similarly, this is shameful for the Ohio State University Board of Trustees to retain President Gee under these circumstances.

Please help send the American university system a message that it will not stand for this type of social injustice by signing this petition to call for the resignation of Gordon Gee from his position as Ohio State University President.
