Call on MO Gov to veto S.B. 113/S.B. 95 which overturns the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act

The Issue

Last November, 2010 Missouri voters approved a ballot initiative called the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act. This Act sets minimum, enforceable standards for the humane care of dogs trapped in Missouri's puppy mills and also limits the breeding. Now the Missouri legislature has passed a bill, S.B. 113/S.B. 95, that would basically repeal the Act and leave dogs in virtually the same deplorable conditions they are now. Missouri's puppy mill industry is flourishing without enforceable laws to regulate it. The terrible conditions of these mills have been the subject of no less than 3 investigations by the state auditor. Only a strong law, the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act, can change conditions for the dogs and stop Missouri from becoming known as the puppy mill capital.   For more information: http://www.animallawcoalition.com/companion-animal-breeding/article/1690

Call on Gov. Jay Nixon to veto this bill, S.B. 113/S.B. 95 and keep in place the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act.
