Commission president Daniel Richards shot a Cougar, which are protected in his own State of California during an Idaho hunting trip. His position of Commissioner warrants that he show respect for and alignment with Californias commitment to protect these animals. The picture of him grinning and lifting the dead cougar, along with his comment about California’s mountain lion moratorium... “I’m glad it’s legal in Idaho.” shows complete disrespect for those values and is offensive to Californias values in protection for these majestic animals.
Gavin Newsom, our Lt. Governer has joined 40 Democratic Assembly members calling for Richards to resign. Please join us, the citizens of California in supporting them in demanding that he resign!

The lieutenant governor wrote to Richards, saying the killing of a cougar doesn't reflect California values and the incident is a distraction that interferes with commission issues.
