Amie Chick hit and killed my lifelong friend with her car. As a result, Andrew Maloney’s life was cut short at the age of 29. Amie Chick was drunk, talking on her cell phone, and had marijuana in her system. After the wreck, she did not get out of her car to see if he needed help, nor did she call 911. For her actions, she was sentenced to serve only one year in jail. Because of Assembly Bill 109, Andrew’s killer will be allowed to serve her sentence under house arrest, in the comfort of her own home.

This petition seeks your help in achieving two goals: (1) having Amie Chick’s crime reclassified as a violent versus nonviolent/nonserious offense under AB 109, so she can serve her time in jail for killing Andrew; and (2) instituting stiffer penalties for DUI offenses that result in the death of innocent people.
