When people shop at a farmers market, we purchase fresh, local produce and artisanal foods directly from the producers. In doing so, we support regional family-scale farms and food businesses. We also learn about our food sources, including new produce varieties often not available at other food stores. Currently, the neighborhood surrounding McGolrick Park is not served by a farmers market. Community Markets, a company that has run farmers markets in and around New York City for over twenty years, now proposes to create one.

Farmers markets are open to all. This area deserves a weekly gathering where neighbors can come together to meet, shop, and engage with one another, as well as with our area farmers and food makers.
