Bring jobs back to Wisconsin

Bring jobs back to Wisconsin

The Issue

Governor Scott Walker promised to bring jobs back to Wisconsin if he was elected. Instead, he has killed project after project that would not only boost Wisconsins infrastructure, but also put thousands to work on construction and operational jobs.

After being elected, Scott Walker rejected over $800 million in Recovery Act funds to extend the Chicago - Milwaukee Amtrak service to Madison. The funds were distributed to other states in the U.S., primarily California and Florida. Service was expected to begin by 2013, with an initial 6 round-trips per day. Now Minnesota is working towards a high speed rail to Chicago bypassing Madison.

Also immediately after starting his job as governor, Walker killed the regional transit authority put in charge of creating and running the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee (KRM) commuter rail service that would have been a separately operated extension of the Chicago - Kenosha Metra. The cost of the 35-mile route is estimated at $200 million.

Cars and highways are not the way to Wisconsin's future, lets make our elected officials accountable for their promises and bring jobs back to our state.
