In 2010 British Petroleum (BP) caused the biggest oil spill in history. Now BP is planning to do a seismic survey in the fragile Arctic Simpson Lagoon, in the Beaufort Sea. The area home to Bowhead, Beluga and gray whales an area so sensitive that no commercial fishing is allowed under National Marine Fisheries Ruling established in 2009. BP plans to blast this shallow bay and barrier islands with sounds >160dB upwards 230>dB 24 hours a day for 50 days. If oil is found than BP would begin drilling in a habitat where a spill is impossible to control or clean up. BP's negligent track record must be considered.
