An event that is meant to celebrate our football team and their accomplishments should at least consider the opinions of the players and the deep history embedded in the traditions that the planning committee is willing to disregard. Please consider bringing back the homemade scarecrow and the stuffed dog and letting the senior captains torch the bonfire on their own. 

The USG is not responsible for this disconnection, they were simply the first ones mentioned in the Daily Princetonian article. Football representatives and athletics representatives were present at the table for the bonfire planning meeting, yet there is somehow still discontent with how the way things ended up.
