My name is Ruth Stricklen and what I am about to tell you is very disturbing. I have the documents and x-rays to back up my story. I had a cat named Otis. I say HAD because one of my neighbors shot him and he died. Not peacefully, but a very painful death. I live in the Cloverdale Subdivision, across from where the old Herritage Christian School used to be. On 3/27/12, My cat Otis, came home with a severely broken leg. We took him to Copelands Veterinarian Hospital where they preformed surgery to repair his leg. During the initial visit, the doc, said he had to have been hit very hard, by a blunt object. With that said, Otis had the surgery and was recovering, when his brother, Zoltan came home on 5/22/12 with a broken leg. We too went to the hospital, no surgery, wouldn't have helped. But still, we took him to the vet's to see what we could do. We love our cats, and are responsible pet owners. Coincidence? 2 cats 2 broken legs? (BTW Both cats are Cream in color and have blue eyes. Not just your ordinary cats.) 5/25/12, We took a trip to Michigan for Memorial Day, and took both cats with us because we feared for their safety. After we returned home, on 6/13/12, Otis came in with a gunshot wound in the back, which detached his diaphragm and lodged his stomach into his heart and lungs. He died as they were trying to stabilize him enough for emergency surgery. I went to the police and filed what I thought was a report, but they never even showed up in our neighborhood. and the officer, {I am sorry I did not get his name) wrote it down on scrap paper, told me there was nothing he could do about it unless I witnessed it or knew someone that did. OK. So we have been talking to some of our neighbors, and found out a dog was shot on or around 6/19/12 also. On 6/17/12 I heard a gunshot, and ran to check my remaining cats to see if they were still inside. My Question is, Why wont the police do anything about it or at least investigate why a Gun is being shot in a residential area, where there are also small children running about. Are they not worried about a stray bullet hitting a child or a home? I really would like to find who ever killed my Otis, and maimed my Zoltan, and attempted to kill our neighbors dog. And Why they didn't come to me and tell me my cats are bothering them, (because of their coloring, everyone knows they are mine) so I could keep them inside. That is all they would of had to of done, and the problem would have been solved. But instead, I am Morning the loss of a beloved pet and friend. Any Help on this subject will be greatly appreciated.
