The Federal Aviation Administration is being asked to allow drones to fly in US airspace for various civilian and law-enforcement purposes. Those who are making the request, both in the private and public sectors, say that these pilotless airplanes of various sizes will help with scientific research, fighting crime and even monotoring pipelines.
George Orwell's vision may be coming true. Who knows what operations can be eventually carried out with these drones under the Patriot Act... We cannot give away our privacy and liberty as a nation.

US skies should be off limits to drone operations
Greetings,
The Federal Aviation Administration is being asked by public and private entities to allow drones, such as the ones used in Afghanistan and Iraq, to fly in US airspace for various purposes. We are all too familiar with drones as symbols of aggression and war. Their use in US airspace, for whatever reasons, would be a detriment to American values of privacy and liberty. History has taught us that such tools, no matter how well-intentioned, frequently result in the oppression of the public and eventual demise of nations.
Apart from the Orwellian flavor of this endeavor, the FAA is already reluctant to allow drones in US airspace for safety reasons. Interference with other flying aircraft, from passenger airplanes to hot air balloons, is of great concern.
Please petition the FAA to reject any use of drones in US airspace.
Thank you,
