Stop Double Fare For Paratransit Riders.

The Issue

Paratransit riders are customers that qualify because of some disability or limitation that is verified by a physician to have door-to-door transportation. The Paratransit riders in the Metro Atlanta area are the ONLY riders that have to pay a double fare because they don't have access to free transfers. For example, when a Partransit rider has free transfers, the cost of a roundtrip fare for a rider is $7.30 but without free transfers the price is $14.60. Local riders as well as Express Bus riders have free transfers.  This is a gross inequity for Paratransit riders and needs to be changed immediately. The people that have the greater challenge and less options in getting to a destination should be paying less than a regular customer instead of more. A  solution to this problem is to reinstate the paper transfers that were used before October 2, 2011  until MARTA and the Regional Transit Companies can meet to resolve this problem permanently. Please sign this petition in support of this change.
