Deaf Education begins with a good Total Communication Program that allows students to learn in American Sign Language and attend classes with their peers. Beachwood Schools have provided that atmosphere for the past 35 years and many Deaf and Hard of Hearing who graduated from Beachwood do lead successful lives. Their classmates also benefited from their presence in the school hallways and interacted with the Deaf students.

If you choose to close the program, you are shutting out the opportunity for both Hearing and Deaf/Hard of Hearing students the chance to learn together. Beachwood Schools has always been a small community and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students benefited because we feel "we do count". We ask you to please explore a better way instead of closing the program and make it a positive environment for all of the Beachwood School Students and Staff, Parents and their families and the Deaf Community.
