Be a Link in The Tie Dye Project

The Issue

The Tie Dye Project  -pay it forward chain shirt-

Alex has mailed out five shirts that are tie dyed by him to other children with autism.

When a child receives a his or her shirt, that child will then make five shirts of their own to send to five other children with autism. Alex's shirts will be numbered A 1 - 5. The recipients of the shirts will receive instructions on the numbering of their shirt so if you received number  A1 the instructions you received will send five tie dyed shirts to five kids numbered B 6-9 and so on.

The shirts should read  The Tie Dye Project.

The kids/artist could even write their name on the bottom of the shirt so the next child knows who sent it.

We still need participants! Parents, teachers and advocates are asking for addresses that they can send their children's shirts to. We need more links to our chain! If you would like to participate in the Tie Dye Project email me your info! Let's make this a world wide effort!

Please email me mommyofalex@justiceforalexbarton.com.

I would love to see ASD adults getting involved as well! If you are an adult who would like to do this project, please email me! We need to let one another know that autism unites!

I encourage ESE teachers and advocates to take part in this effort as well. If you would like to sponsor a class or you are a teacher and would like to have your class sponsored contact me.

The Tie Dye Symbol:

I didn't know why it was tie dye that started this project, other than it being on http://kyraanderson.wordpress.com/2009/02/15/true-educators/ I happened by this blog by chance last week.

However, today I realized that I have been talking about the beautiful kaleidoscope we are as humanity for a while now.  The Tie Dye Project is about creating a kaleidoscope of colors on a shirt and passing it along.

His ability to comprehend on a older level is unbelievable. Gifted children are a challenge but, I would not change it for the world. His best friend is his little brother their dream is to, someday be in a band called the Barton Brothers. Alex is my youngest he is 6 and ready to take on life full speed. He is also intellectually gifted but has Aspergers syndrome too. Although Alex is bright and very loving, many people choose to turn their head to his world. You might know Alex, if you do not you can Google him. WE NEED EDUCATIONAL CHANGE! WE NEED HEALTH CARE CHANGE! WE NEED CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL AMERICANS! "A time comes when silence is betrayal."
