It is imperative that this shelter changes their hours. They are only open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8am to 5pm. This means that for the working population, it is nearly impossible to visit the shelter. One would have to take off of work, and realistically, that is very unlikely. The more foot traffic we can get INTO the shelter, the more animals we can get OUT of the shelter. A volunteer program needs to be established for the sake of the animals. Because Barrow County is so shortly staffed, the have little time to concentrate on each and every animal. Volunteers are needed to clean cages, feed the animals, and give them the attention they deserve!
