Ban the use of gestation crates

Ban the use of gestation crates
The Issue
Gestation crates should be banned due to the low quality life they support. If an animal is to be caged and forced to breed it's entire life the least we can do is give it a better quality of living.
Some large corporations are even trying to get gestation crates banned as well.
My name is Robert, I have a goal to achieve and I require your help. All it takes is one signature or one phone call. If you decide to do both that's even better!
If you would like to make a difference please sign this petition and call the National Pork Producers Council at 515-278-8012 and urge them to end the pork industry's confinement of mother pigs in these cruel gestation crates!
Gestation crates are cruel for the following reasons listed below, all information you are about to read was provided by cnn.
There are approximately 5.8 million breeding sows living on pig farms across the United States, according to the USDA, and 60 to 70 percent of them spend the majority of their lives in metal-sided stalls that are two feet wide and seven feet long. They are pregnant for most of their lifespan and then moved to a farrowing stall to give birth.
Food and water is provided to the sows while they're in the stalls, but they have a very limited range of motion. The animal may flop down on her side, but she cannot turn around.
These animals that are held in gestation crates are forced into a small amount of space given limited mobility and forced to be pregnant for most of their life until they are dead or eaten.
If live stock farmers are to continue these practices, they can at least give the animal being force bred a comfortable living area.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the help of The HSUS and other animal protection advocates, nine U.S. states—Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, and Rhode Island—have passed laws to prohibit the use of gestation crates.
Some of the world's largest food companies—McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Oscar Mayer (Kraft), Kroger, Safeway, Denny's, Carl's Jr., Hardee's, Sonic, Cracker Barrel, and Compass Group (the top foodservice company in the world)—have announced that they will eliminate gestation crates from their supply chains after working with The HSUS.
However this is just the start. We need to find a way to get this message across to all 50 states and succesfully get the gestation crates banned. Thank you for your support.
