Peter Bower advertised his services as a dog walker and pet sitter until he was arrested on suspicion of having sex with as many as three dogs and a horse. A search warrant found additional evidence of bestiality. Despite Bower's apparent history of animal abuse, there are no anti-bestiality laws in Ohio.
Bower's trial took place in late November, when he was found guilty on two misdemeanor counts. The judge ordered Bower not to own any animals. Although Bower did not receive jail time, his sentence also included fines, mandatory community service, probation, a psychiatric evaluation and sex addiction classes.
The trial for Peter Bower has been rescheduled for November 23, 2011.
Ohio resident, Peter Bower advertised his services as a dog walker and pet sitter. He was arrested and charged with having sex with three dogs and maybe a horse. Bower, 31, was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 3 year old shepherd mix dog that he had adopted from the Richland County Dog Shelter in early May. On May 27, the man entered an INNOCENT plea and is charged with ONLY TWO MISDEMEANOR COUNTS of animal cruelty for the rape of the innocent dog. Authorities would like to charge Bower with a felony but there are no laws about bestiality in Ohio. Based on tips Bower had allegedly posted storied and photos of him and the multiple animals in the act. The authorities executed a search warranted of Bower’s apartment. His computer was confiscated. The postings date back to 2006. A book found a bestiality book, "Dearest Pet," along with signs that read 'Pets Welcomed' and a plastic, blow-up sheep. Bower was arrested at his Mansfield workplace May 18 and charged with injuring animals, a second-degree misdemeanor, and companion animal prohibitions, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The dog was examined by a veterinarian and suffered physical trauma and pain from the abuse. The dog has been removed from the man's home for NOW. He was able to post bond and is now out of jail to freely continue with raping animals. The 31 yr-old Shelby man will face a pre-trial hearing at the end of July. Based on Brower’s history, he should not be allowed to own pets and should banned from any activities that are associated with animals. Bestiality is not a crime in Ohio, therefore the rape of this innocent dog is ONLY a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty. According to the Michigan State University College of Law, approximately 30 states have enacted laws that prohibit sexual contact between humans and animals. Make Bestiality a Felony in Ohio!
