Waukesha County does not have enough affordable, accessible homes for people that we need in our communities, such as police officers, nursing aides, and our parents and grandparents. The cause of this problem is that average wages have remained fairly stagnant while the price to buy a house or rent an apartment has skyrocketed over the last 20 years.
Creating a housing trust fund could help our communities by providing County funding to help developers with high quality projects to build and rehabilitate more affordable homes. The whole county would benefit as jobs are created to build these homes, and local business is stimulated to provide goods and services for new residents.
So sign the petition to urge the three County Board Supervisors for Menomonee Falls to introduce an ordinance to create a housing trust fund. Then encourage your friends in the area to sign it, too!
Create a Waukesha County Housing Trust Fund
Dear Supervisors Dwyer, Jeskewitz, and Brandtjen,
As residents of the Menomonee Falls area, we urge you to create a housing trust fund in Waukesha County to support the development and preservation of affordable homes for the people who live and work in our communities. Waukesha County needs more affordable, accessible places to live for our families, senior citizens, and people with disabilities. Please introduce an ordinance to create a housing trust fund with ongoing, dedicated County revenues.
