Ryan Smolar for Interim Executive Director for Arts Council for Long Beach

The Issue

Ryan Smolar will bring community, connectivity and commitment  to the Arts Council for Long Beach and those it serves.

Ryan's experience with the Arts Council:

- worked closely under the last two Executive Directors as a consultant and project manager

- managed or spearheaded nearly a dozen ACLB initiatives over 5 years

- has an on-going committment to seeing the ACLB help connect and grow Long Beach's arts and creativity sector

Ryan's Experience with the Arts Community

- works with individual artists and arts businesses as a business consultant at the Small Business Development Center (longbeachsbdc.org)

- produced events and Long Beach projects like University by the Sea (a $150,000 festival that helped saved the historic Jergins Pedestrian Tunnel), LimelightLB.com (a citywide events calendar), Book by Authors (written and illustrated by local authors/artists) and built the Goods Gallery (a cargo container art gallery and performance space).

- collaborated with great arts organizations/projects including  Long Beach Museum of Art, MOLAA, Carpenter Performing Arts Center, Garage Theatre, Alive Theatre, Schooled in Song, Summer and Music, Long Beach Playhouse, First Fridays, Zombiewalk, Long Beach Cinematheque, Arts & Services for the Disabled, CALB, the East Village Arts District, SoundWalk, Tour des Artistes, Los Angeles Arts Commission, Aquarium of the Pacific, CSULB College of the Arts, Gallery Expo, and many more.
