Palm oil is one of the main causes of deforestation. Hundreds of animal and plant species are losing their habitat including the endangered orangutan. The rainforest where they live is being cleared to make way for oil palm tree plantations. Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the fruit of the oil palms. Palm oil is becoming more popular because of its lower costs and is now in most foods. The majority of people that buy the products containing it have no idea what it is. My goal for this petition is for Amazon.com to stop selling pure palm oil in the bottle. Food companies using palm oil in their ingredients is bad, selling it by the bottle is worse.
