Amanpreet and D Must Stay in the UK

The Issue

To stop the deportation of Ms Amanpreet Kaur, an Indian Sikh lesbian, facing imminent deportation. Back in India Ms Kaur refused to accept an arranged marriage and suffered repeated beatings, death threats, and attempted rape by her own father.

Amanpreet has suffered from severe mental illness resulting in physical breakdown and became seriously ill following suicide attempts in Yarlswood Detention Centre. She is on temporary release from Yarlswood on medical grounds and is with Ms D at present after receiving care in hospital.

Amanpreet had a marriage ceremony with her partner Ms D, an Indian Muslim, inside Yarlswood. Both women are in fear of violence, including "corrective rape" and honour killing should they return to their home country and are therefore claiming Asylum in the UK.

They urgently need your support to help them stay in the UK, live together and begin to rebuild their lives in safety free from persecution and torture.
