American college student Amanda Knox was convicted of the murder of her roommate on December 5, 2009, after a year long trial in a foreign country. This petition makes no judgment on whether or not she is guilty. What we do know is that her trial was a mockery of justice, with the media and the public convicting her long before a jury did. One of the cornerstones of American democracy is the right to a fair trial. We must show the world that the U.S. will stand up for this essential ideal and that it denounces the corrupt and biased way that Knox was convicted.
