Lower the Tax Levy Rate for Residential Taxes in 2012-13
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: All Elected Office Holders In Scott County, Iowa
----------------
ATTENTION ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS IN SCOTT COUNTY, IA
Lower the Tax Levy Rate for Residential Taxes in 2012-13
Because government needs to live within its means and with the recent Rollback increase of 2% additional taxable valuation local governments and school boards have no excuse to not reduce the tax levy. Residential Rollback has increased in each of the past four years.
Overall tax rates have increased each of the past five years.
This does not include increases in property assessments, fee increases, commercial reassessments. We hereby Petition you to Opt4Better when it comes to establishing the tax levy rate for Fiscal Year 2012-13. The Rollback increase is not a license to increase spending.
Therefore, we Petition you to LOWER THE TAX LEVY RATE BACK TO 2008 LEVELS for your taxable jurisdiction and decrease real spending levels, rather than decreasing an increase in future spending.
If this demand is not meant, then we the Petitioners will pursue revoking the Local Option Sales Tax as a referendum item on the Fall 2012 ballot and pursue reducing your appetite for revenue one way or the other.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
