Members of Congress are constantly besieged by influence peddlers of all types (corporations, labor unions, special interests, etc.), as a result politicians are focused not on the common good, but on their re-election. Serving in Congress was never intended to be a career, but rather a period of service of limited duration. Term limits will allow elected officials to make decision more objectively beyond their self interest.
