The Issue

Mitrice Richardson was a 24-year-old honors graduate of California State University Fullerton, who was arrested at a Malibu restaurant because she could not pay her bill.  Mitrice was then released from the Lost Hills Sheriffs Station by the LASD at about 12:25 am on September17, 2009 despite the fact that she may have been experiencing a mental health crisis. Upon release Mitrice was denied access to her car, cell phone, and money. Mitrice’s remains were found 11 months later on August 9,2010 in a remote ravine in Malibu Canyon 8 miles from where the LASD released her.
