The website prisonpost.com is adding every inmate that is currently incarcerated and has been released in the last 3 years in the State of Florida to their on-line mailing list without the permission of the inmates or their families. I found this out by just googling my name on the web and tried to remove my name from the mailing list and the siteadmin told me that he has a strict policy of not removing people for 3 years after their release to ensure that they do not violate any kind of probation or parole. It is clear that the public records are being abused by mailing services in a SPAM kind of manner. Also this indicates that such so called public mailing lists for inmates are an extra tool for the authorities to keep track of anyone who has been released from prison. Everyone who has been placed on this mailing list without even knowing about it and everyone writing to these inmates are subject to illegal monitoring by authorities. I believe this is a major violation of privacy rights and hinders all those who try to leave their prison life behind and build a new life. But even more so all those who start writing inmates using this website are from that moment on a subject of interest to the authorities. People be aware of the danger of these organizations.
