20,000 Bednets this year
20,000 Bednets this year
The Issue
In my early twenties, I lived in Senegal, an experience that changed my life and set me on a direction that would lead to my founding of AngelPoints. One of the tough things I witnessed firsthand was the devastation of malaria in villages across the country. Historically, malaria has not received the same media attention as HIV/AIDS, but for children under the age of five it is the single leading cause of death in sub-Saharan Africa. Together, we can help stop this fully preventable disease.
I invite you to donate one or more life-saving bed nets today and help end malaria's toll once and for all. Only with your help can we provide 20,000 lifesaving bed nets by April 25, 2007, the date of the first ever National Malaria Awareness Day in the United States. These bed nets can and will save thousands of childrens' lives, not to mention the lives of their parents and loved-ones.
Malaria is not a difficult disease to understand:
* Malaria kills an estimated one million children every year—one child every 30 seconds.
* Annually, between 350 and 500 million people are infected with malaria leading to devastating symptoms and over one million deaths.
* Malaria is preventable–with just $10, a bed net can save a child's life.
I ask you to work with me to bring an end to this scourge. Alone, we can each save at least one child. United, we can save whole communities, villages, and regions.
