Rebuild Bayview Park with an iconic Ship playground with improved safety, lighting and security
The issue
The famous Alamanda Pirate Ship was burnt down in 2014. The pirate ship was an icon within the Alamanda estate and surrounds and a reason why many people bought within the area. This Iconic park was a much loved playground and asset to the Wyndham and Point Cook community. Wyndham City Council recently released final concepts for the park and the proposed iron "Skeleton Ghost Ship" sculpture was not at all what the community wants or needs. The Community emphatically rejects and objects to this going ahead.
The following excerpt is from the Alamanda estate website:
"Fun for the whole family Alamanda’s ‘Bayview Park’ adventure slide and pirate ship sits atop a man-made hill in the heart of the estate and will entertain children, teenagers and parents alike. With innovative children’s playground complete with pirate ship and adventure slide, a half basketball, playground court and outdoor barbeque and picnic spots, Bayview Park presents fun for the whole family.
An iconic feature of this community and the wider Point Cook region, Bayview Park’s hill top pirate ship offers 360 degree view toward Melbourne’s CBD, Port Phillip Bay and beyond."
We want the "original" pirate ship to be rebuilt with community input and involvement to ensure we get the best ship possible that the community can be proud of while improving lighting, visibility, safety and security. We want the Wyndham City Council to actively engage with its local residents to ensure an icon remains and is rebuilt!
