Reduce the VCI Veterinary Nursing License to Practise Fees

Reduce the VCI Veterinary Nursing License to Practise Fees

The Issue

This year, the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) which regulates veterinary professionals and maintains an online register displaying individuals who are licensed to practice in Ireland, have raised their fees from €185 to €215. We veterinary nurses see this absurd increase as an affront to our already underpaid, and often undervalued role in society. A €30 increase is an huge amount to ask for as our wages across the Country in no way reflect this increase. Futhermore, there are no benefits we nurses have received anytime we have registered (often paying the full annual amount for just a few short months on the register) and not allowing new graduates to find their feet first before asking for fees to be paid. We ask that the VCI redacts this unfair increase in registration fees.
