We have over 1,000 dams obstructing Vermont's waterways--hundreds of which no longer serve any purpose and are decades if not over a century old. Many of these dams are not regularly inspected and pose invisible threats to downstream ecosystems, people and communities. It is time to require registration and inspection of all Vermont dams.
