We want to fix the UK rental housing market which undeniably favours landlords/letting agents and often leaves people living in unacceptable, over-priced housing. 

Because of this, we have created this petition to raise awareness and eventually get this issue debated in UK Parliment - our end goal is to end fixed-term contracts and replace them with a period of notice agreed by either side. 

Some of the main issues renters report are:

• Housing in poor, unacceptable conditions
• Repairs left for long periods of time or not being done at all
• Unresponsive landlords and letting agents
• Unreasonable rent increases
• Deposits not returned or had to be chased for long periods of time

Once you have signed a contract you are legally required to continue paying your rent and there is not a lot you can do when your landlord or letting agent is not upholding their end of the deal. They know this and it leaves all the power in their hands.

We believe that one change could reduce all of these issues and put some control back in the hands of tenants – let’s end fixed-term contracts and replace them with an agreed period of notice on either side.

Rentals Done Right understand what the housing market offers to the whole economy and we are not trying to decrease the value which comes with investing in property - we simply believe that nobody should be living in below standard housing and unable to do anything about.
