Let Jakir stay in the UK with our/his family
The Issue
If ever there were a positive example of immigration to the UK, then Jakir Ahmed would be it. An asylum seeker living in Norfolk, he is currently facing removal to Bangladesh , a place which he no longer considers his home. Jakir arrived in the UK aged 12-14 following some terrible and traumatic personal experiences that no person, let alone a young child, should ever have to go through and was found on the streets of Norwich. Jakir was found confused, cold and unable to speak a word of English in December 2008. He has since been fostered by our family, gone to school in Norwich and was about to start an apprenticeship at Norwich Airport as an aircraft re-finisher. He is a keen sportsman and currently plays in the first team for Lingwood Badminton Club, has represented Norfolk at badminton and has been a member of Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers Cricket Club for the past six seasons. But Jakir, 20, has received a letter from the Home Office, informing him that he must go back to Bangladesh. Jakir has to remain living at his home address on Ipswich Road, must report to his local police station every Tuesday and is no longer allowed to work which meant losing out on his apprentice placement Jakir has made an incredible journey during his time in the UK. He has supported other children in Foster Care and has shown great dedication to bettering himself. There is no doubt that, should Jakir be allowed to continue to call the UK his home, he would go on to become an outstanding adult member of the British community. Please, sign and share our petition, in order to show your support for Jakir and his campaign to stay in the country he has grown up in, the country that has offered him safety, and the country that he considers home. Jakir is our family we don't want to loose him.
