Have Charlottetown City Council Reverse Their Decision to Force Taboo Company to Cease Operations @ 211 Euston Street, Charlottetown.

The Issue

We believe municipal government should not be able to dictate what business is allowed to open in a location that a business is allowed to be. If Taboo Company were a bible book store, a flower shop, even just a tobacco shop, there would be no issues. This is a fact proven by the other businesses that have opened there in the past (some illegally). But because we sell adult toys (something available in most stores in Charlottetown), we are being told we have to leave, against the Planning Boards recommendation. We promote sexual health, exploration and acceptance in our store to help people be who they are. We don't judge anyone. We have followed every rule, every law and bylaw to date and have done everything the city has asked of us. That stops now. We are not leaving without a fight to appease a politician in his election year or a few people who have very dated ideas. If we leave it will be a business decision made on sustaining our employees, serving our customers better and to grow/expand (the rights of every other legal business). We will not leave to appease a politician who thinks he is getting a few extra votes this election year and a few people with outdated views.  Sex is natural.. it is how we all got here! Respectfully, since day one, we have protected the view of our store from outside at great cost...We are socially responsible with our window displays, allow nobody under the age of 19 inside, ask for I.D., and were granted approval by the provincial health inspector, received our tobacco license as a full tobacconist, was approved by many suppliers to carry their product like Coke, Atlantic Lottery, TRA and more.

WE ASK ALL to sign this petition in support of this locally owned legal business that provides full time work, and full benefits to its staff in down town Charlottetown. Jobs that are needed greatly on PEI!
