Retain Temporary footbridge on A9 at Gleneagles Station

Retain Temporary footbridge on A9 at Gleneagles Station
The Issue
In recent times 2 pedestrians have been killed crossing this stretch of busy road. They are crossing from Gleneagles Station or a nearby bus stop. The road has a 70mph speed limit and is busy night and day.
For the duration of The Ryder Cup a huge "temporary" footbridge has been erected for "the safety of visitors to the golf". It is understood to have been financed via the Scottish Government. This is the ultimate slap in the face to locals who are faced with a dash across the road or a 3 mile walk 365 days a year from the station or from an A9 bus stop to the local town!
THE BRIDGE MUST BE RETAINED!
Surely in the name and memory of those who died - most recently a 79 year old man from Glasgow but prior to that a 16 year old schoolgirl from Auchterarder. With a footbridge these 2 horrendous accidents would not have taken place so why build one for a 3 day event then take it down? It beggars belief!
We are asking all people who care, to sign this petition - a paper petition is also being carried out - please don't sign both for fairness and accuracy. We will be asking golf fans from UK and Europe as well as from US to sign it.
Please don't let this bridge be only temporary!
It is obscene that this bridge only erected earlier in September is scheduled to be removed again next week when the golfers and golf fans have gone home safe!
The Ryder Cup and Diageo the owners of Gleneagles will make many millions from this event and good luck to them but every fatal acciident costs around £3.139M according to a government website. Why on earth can the bridge not be upgraded to permanent status?
