The LA Unified School District is set to vote tomorrow to serve only meats raised without antibiotics in their School Lunch Program. They will be joined by Six major school districts in the Urban School Food Alliance. Eight years after my son Sam nearly died from eating chicken contaminated with a superbug, school lunch programs are beginning to wake up. Thanks to all of you who signed our petition, and those who shared Sam's story through the film Food Patriots in their schools and communities. And thanks to the many advocacy organizations that picked up this tune and worked hard to make this change. Consumer Union, Pew Charitable Trusts, NRDC, Food and Water Watch, School Food Focus and Environmental Working Group are just some of them. Look for media coverage of this story tomorrow, and pass the articles along to your school districts, school board members, PTA's. Make some noise. Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.
