Please stop using artificial colors in your foods
The Issue
Dear Pillsbury,
Many children have bad reactions to artificial colorings. I am one of them. When I eat anything with artificial colorings, my behavior changes instantly. I can’t concentrate. I become hyperactive. I behave aggressively and impulsively. It would be so nice to eat Pillsbury foods and not have this happen. I think there are a lot of children who are sensitive to these dyes, but may not even know it.
What makes this even more frustrating, is that so many of the foods that have artificial dyes in it, don’t need any color at all. For example, did you know Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Vanilla frosting has Red 40 and Yellow 5 in it? The frosting is white!!! Why does white frosting need those colors in it?
Pillsbury’s Original Crescent rolls are so yummy! But they also have artificial colorings. So do the Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing. I love all these, but CAN’T eat them because of what happens when I do. There are other Pillsbury products that contain artificial colorings, but these are just some of my favorites that I can’t eat.
Food companies should use natural colorings for their products, like beet or vegetable juice. I really hope
Pillsbury will listen to me. In Europe, food manufacturers have voluntarily taken artificial dyes out of their foods. Shouldn’t they do the same thing here in the United States? Don’t you think Pillsbury would want all children to be free from the behavioral changes that happen when kids eat artificial dyes? Also, The Center for Science in the Public Interest has recommended that Red 40, Yellow 5 and 6 be banned from foods in the U-S.
Kraft is taking artificial dyes out of all the Mac and Cheese for kids because of a petition just like this one.
Please help me convince Pillsbury to take out artificial colors from all their products! When they do, I’ll be their biggest fan!
