Cessnock: More Police on the Beat

The issue

Cessnock City Council is urging the NSW Government to give our local police command the support and resources they need to keep our community safe.

The growing pressure on police working in the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA) must be addressed as a matter of urgency. The need for an increased police presence and improved police stations in the LGA is a community priority and expectation shared by all.

Cessnock, Kurri Kurri and surrounds are experiencing rapid growth, however the resourcing of our local police force does not reflect this. Our police do a wonderful job in protecting our community but their resources are stretched thinly, making it difficult to operate to the best of their ability.

These concerns have been shared with Cessnock City Council by the men and women in uniform, who do not feel adequately equipped to deal with an increase in demand on local services.

Residents across the LGA are being urged to throw their support behind the ‘More Police on the Beat’ campaign and sign the petition.

We live in a community worth protecting! It's time the NSW Government step up to the plate and increase police staffing levels in the Cessnock LGA and address ageing infrastructure.
