The role of ISAC Council is an important part of ISAC’s governance and having the right individuals in this role is critical to the success of the society and satisfaction of its membership. Members of Council should represent, as broadly as possible, all aspects of cytometry in both breadth and balance. This is why I am nominating Vera Tang, Ph.D. for this very important role. Vera checks all the boxes for what’s important for an individual to be a valuable representative of the society. As a very active member of the society, she understands the operational aspects through her volunteer participation on multiple committees, the scientific and educational components through her regular participation at CYTO meetings as a scientist and an educator. Vera’s potential as a leader was recognized by ISAC with the award recognizing her as a SRL Emerging Leader. 

She truly represents all aspects of Cytometry through her work as an Innovator (patent holder), Scientist ( many high level publications, Associate Editor), Educator (adjunct professorship, workshop, tutorial, and webinar content creator), and SRL Manager. I think you will agree that Vera is an excellent choice to represent the multiple interests and visions of ISAC’s membership.
