Figures from Audit Scotland show that councils have suffered an 11% cut in their revenue funding from the Scottish Government since 2010/11. It is estimated that we could face a further cut of up to 4% from the Scottish Government for 2018/19 and future years. Vital frontline services which protect the most vulnerable people in our communities, and make East Lothian a great place to work, live and learn are under threat.

We the undersigned urge Nicola Sturgeon and her Government to ensure vital local services in East Lothian are protected by:

• Not cutting funding for local authorities;
• Fully funding all pay increases; and
• Fully funding all new policies and legislation impacting on councils.
